Spin into Fitness with your Partner

Couples CyclingWant to ride with your partner but are stymied by a difference in fitness, experience or goals? Are you intimidated by riding with your partner? Do you feel like you are holding your partner up? Do you try to teach your significant other tips on the bike only to met by confusion and irritability? We have the camp for you both!

Team up with Team Speed Queen for a three day training camp from June 11 to 13th with your partner, your bicycles and a willingness to have a great time. We recognize that being able to ride with your partner can be a challenge if your skills or fitness are not matched. This is a camp to Teach You Both How To Ride Together, regardless of your fitness, your skills, or difference in your overall athletic goals.

Taking over 20 years of cycling experience, we will teach you as a couple how to work together to make your riding experience enjoyable for you both. Acting as facilitators, we will provide you with the skills to ride together, give you fun workouts that you can do together, and take you on rides which will give you plenty of opportunity to ride with the best teammate in the world – your partner.

You will arrive Friday afternoon and have your bicycles checked over and prepped by a professional mechanic. There will be a group dinner at one of Sonoma Counties' excellent restaurants with group discussion to follow. The evening’s topics will include how to overcome fitness discrepancies while riding, picking routes, bicycle fit and comfort issues, nutrition, and riding tools.

Saturday morning starts with a delicious country breakfast served in the dining room or out in the garden courtyard. The morning session will be a skill building session that focuses on riding with your partner, riding with a group, some touch drills, and understanding the physics of riding together. Saturday afternoon will be a ride around the gorgeous roads of Sonoma’s West County. Here we will put into practice the skills we honed in the morning’s clinic. That evening will be another delicious dinner, followed by a discussion on scheduling rides, how to make rides work for each of the couple, finding strategies to make it work, who takes the lead and when, terminology, and how to support your partner.

Sunday morning will be another wonderful breakfast followed by a second skills session. The afternoon will be a fun couples time trial event to put all the skills from the weekend into play.

The fee for this clinic is $250 per couple. In addition, although we have not finalized the negotiations, we should be able to offer lodging to our out of town guests at a highly regarded local Bed and Breakfast at $225 per night (double occupancy at a Special Team Speed Queen rate), plus taxes, breakfast is included with the price of your room. Dinners will be charged individually to each couple. If you have participated in the Team Speed Queen 2010 Women’s Fitness Series you will receive $125 discount on the coaching fees. To ensure customized attention to each couple, we are limiting this camp to ten couples so please sign up today!

Interested in taking riding with your partner to a new level? We can create a customized training program for you both to train together. For participants in TSQ Couples Training Camp the fee is $150 per month (this is for both people, a $400 value). Customized fits can be arranged for an additional fee. Please let us know in advance if you are interested.

Each person is required have a road bike in good working condition as well as a helmet.
