Conquer the GranFondo!

Climbing King RidgeHave you registered for the GranFondo and would like to set a personal best on the challenging course? Did you ride the route last year and would like to improve your time in 2010? Did you miss the registration but want to ride the route you have heard so much about? Now is your chance! Join World Champion cyclist Giana Roberge and Team Speed Queen in August for the GranFondo Prep Clinic presented by West County Revolution Bike Shop.

Join us from August 13 to 15 for a cycling camp specifically to prepare you for Levi Leipheimer's GranFondo. You do not have to be registered in any of the GranFondo routes to participate in this camp. Check out the exciting itinerary that follows and be ready to learn how to best prepare for this challenging and beautiful course. Sign up soon as there are a limited number of slots available for this camp.

Friday August 13th we will begin the camp with a wonderful dinner and discussion from 6pm to 9pm. Learn how to prepare for the GranFondo with proper training, nutrition, hydration and clothing selection. Learn the course from the pros who train on it weekly. Enjoy great food, good stories and a dissection of the course and tips on how to best be prepared.

Long Winding RoadSaturday, August 14th, depart for the exciting 103 mile GranFondo. Support will include coaching along the way to assist with the challenging climbs and descents, as well as sag support, bars, gels, snacks and drink mix provided. There will be two ride speeds, as well as a shorter ride option offered so everyone can have access to on the road training which you will find to be so beneficial. Just think, to ride the course with a pro who is giving you advice and tips along the way!!

Sunday, August 15th, we will scout out and focus on the Medio Fondo, but will also include sections of the Gran Fondo as well. Again, each ride will include on the bike coaching, sag, bars, gels, snacks and drink mix.

The cost of this exciting Clinic that happens on the actual course is only $110 per person. It includes dinner Friday night, two days of riding and on the bike coaching as well as sag support, bars, gels, snacks and drinks. If you are a member of the West County Team Revolution or have participated in the Team Speed Queen's Women's Cycling Series, the cost of the camp is $100. This fee does not include the price of the GranFondo registration.

To continue to improve in your preparation, you can receive a Customized two month schedule from Head Coach, Giana Roberge, taking you from August 18th right up to the GranFondo for $150, normally a $400 value. If you are looking for additional coaching as well as an opportunity to be fully prepared with a Customized Training Program, fitting, and pre-event nutritional planning , we are offering a supplemental package for three additional days (Monday through Wednesday). This exciting opportunity includes one on one on the bike and off coaching with Giana, a customized two month coaching program to prepare you for the GranFondo, a personalized fit, the option of training on a customized fit BMC equipped with Reynolds wheels, and lunch. This is a $700 value, offered for $400/person for all five days.

Wondering if you are on the correct equipment? Looking for something better than what you currently are riding? We are offering a test ride program of BMC Pro Machines – customized to your fit. Ask us! Also available are Reynolds test ride wheels with Michelin tires. The fee for the test BMC is $60/day which can be applied to the purchase of a BMC when purchased through West County Revolution. The test ride for the Reynolds wheels includes bike set-up, brake pad and cassette exchange and is $20/day. This fee can be applied to the purchase of any wheel set through WCR.

We can provide you with a list of excellent hotels in our area as well as plenty of restaurant suggestions for Saturday and Sunday dinners.
