Enhanced Women's Cycling Clinics

Woman CyclistThis Spring we had an outstanding response to Team Speed Queen's Women's Cycling Fitness Clinics. A large group of women came out for skills and fitness building and we had a BLAST!! We heard the requests for more beginner classes with a focus on skills and balance work, as well as an opportunity for the more advanced riders to push themselves.

In response, we are broadening our offering of classes with "New to the Bike World - Levels 1 and 2" and "Know Pace Lining but Need More Skills and Fitness" clinics (Level 1 is new, the others are the same classes, different names) and are stoked to be offering an even more advanced class "Know A lot But Not Everything".

Do not miss out on these Summer clinics as there is something for all levels and they are packed with everything you need to be more comfortable, more fit, and have more confidence on your bicycle. We again are excited to be offering the clinics in conjunction with West County Revolution Bike Shop and Echelon Cycle & Multisport to be able to offer even more to the women of Sonoma County.

What Our Student's Have Said

Here is a sample of what participants in Team Speed Queen's Spring Women's Cycling Fitness Clinics are saying about their experiences.

"Even though I've been riding a bike for years, I didn't realize how timid I was in a group setting. The clinic was a really great way to build confidence and aptitude in cycling, and I made a lot of friends that I continue to ride and race with. If you don't know if you should sign up, just do it! You never regret a ride, only the ones you didn't do!"

"With Team Speed Queen's encouragement, support and instruction I have ridden roads and climbed hills that I never thought I would be able to do. Their high expectations, knowledge, good humor and enthusiasm make the classes a pleasure to attend as well as an extremely valuable learning experience."

"I found the Women's Clinic to be the the most thorough, informative and fun cycling training I have ever had. Everyone was so nice and I looked forward to every ride!"

"If you are looking to become a skilled cyclist, Team Speed Queen's your gal!"

Four Levels of Women's Fitness and Skills Programs

The series includes a two month daily schedule of workouts, on the bike coaching from Team Speed Queen Coaches, and extensive education on the topics of bike comfort and fit, nutrition, hydration, and clothing. In order to even further customize the clinic to the needs of the varying fitness levels and abilities of the clinic participants, this year there will be four different levels of classes, each one running for 8 weeks. All classes will meet together on Friday, June 18th for a safety check and basic skills analysis so that Team Speed Queen Coaches can make sure you will be in the class best suited for your ability.

"New to the Bike World-Levels 1 and 2"
The Level 1 class in this series is ideal for those who are new to cycling and focuses on the basics of balance, shifting, braking, pedaling and starting to ride in a group. It will focus on drills that will help you feel more confident and comfortable as a cyclist. You will need a modern road bike in good working order, a pump, spare tubes and helmet. For the Level 2 class of this classification we ask that you be able to average at least 10-12mph on a flat road and we will cover more climbing and descending skills along with pace line handling skills. Level 1 will be offered Friday afternoons from 2 to 4 PM while Level 2 will be held Fridays from 5 to 7 PM. Both of these classes will meet together for the first time on June 18th from 5 to 7 PM.

"Know Pace Lining but Need More Skills and Fitness"
This class will usually consist of a ride of 2-3 hours that will focus more on fitness, fast paced pacelines, echelons, sprinting, climbing and time trialing. We will probably schedule in a Team Time Trial and some other fun friendly competition during the eight week series. You will need a modern road bike in good working order, a pump, spare tubes and helmet, and be able to average at least 14-16 mph on a flat road. The first class will meet on Friday, June 18th from 5 to 7 PM thereafter this class will meet on Sundays from 9 to Noon starting June 20th.

"Know A Lot But Not Everything"
This class is for the seasoned cyclist/racer who knows a lot and because of that knows that there is always more to learn. We will emphasis race tactics and strategies, how to read a course, sprinting, time trialing, climbing and descending at speed and how to win. You will need a modern road bike in good working order, a pump, spare tubes and helmet and be able to average at least 18-20 mph on a flat road. The first class will meet on Friday, June 18th from 5 to 7 PM, thereafter this class will meet on Sundays from 9 to 1 PM starting June 20th.

The first class set for June 18th will be a safety check and basic skills analysis that is mandatory for all attendees that have not taken a class previously with Team Speed Queen. We are asking you to come ready to ride on this day as we want to make sure you are in the class best suited for your ability which will in turn give you the best experience. The cost of each class is $199 and includes 8 rides with Team Speed Queen Coaches, a two month training schedule, a Training "Bible" that has lots of information, tips on nutrition, hydration and more. There is a 10% discount if you have taken a previous class with Team Speed Queen.
